Sustainable Seafood and Responsible Fishing

The information provided in this new website section is designed to help buyers, retailers and food service managers ensure that the stocks they purchase are sustainably sourced and responsibly fished. Over the past decade BIM has undertaken a considerable amount of work to ensure a sound environmental future for the country's fisheries and aquaculture businesses. It has committed financial and personnel resources, initiated research, and collaborated on national and international projects dealing with issues from net to plate, all of which have the same ultimate goal - SUSTAINABLY AND RESPONSIBLY FISHED SEAFOOD AND VIBRANT RURAL AND COASTAL COMMUNITIES. Conservation

This section looks at the work being undertaken to conserve stocks and reduce the amount of bycatch in fisheries. It also outlines the efforts put into place in aquaculture to manage fish farming areas in harmony with the environment, and in a manner that pays attention to local, national and international conservation issues.
