Ice Plants
BIM aims to raise the quality of fish supplies through increased use of ice and improved fish handling practices. BIM’s ice plant network provides a supply of ice to fishing vessels, fish farms and fish processors to help ensure that fish and shellfish are maintained in top quality from the time of capture to harvest. BIM is continuing to develop this network with ice plants located in major fishing harbours and in small ports around the coasts available direct from BIM, with automatic delivery 24 hours a day, at the following locations (access cards can be obtained from the local ice plant operator).
Ice plants operated 24 hours a day:
- Howth, Co. Dublin
- Kilmore Quay, Co. Wexford
- Dunmore East, Co. Waterford
- Union Hall, Co. Cork
- Rossaveal, Co. Galway
- Dingle, Co. Kerry
Ice plants operated on a daily basis:
Ice is available direct from BIM, by arrangement with the operator, at the following locations:
- Castletownbere, Co. Cork
- Greencastle, Co. Dongeal
- Killybegs , Co. Donegal
