Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act enables members of the public to obtain access to official information to the greatest extent possible, consistent with the public interest and the right to privacy of individuals.

How to Make a FOI request

FOI Requests should be made in writing, stating that the request is being made under the Act and addressed to:

Ms. Majella Fitzsimons, FOI Unit, P.O. Box No. 12, Crofton Road, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.

If you are looking for records you should provide as much information as possible to allow BIM to find it. Please state clearly in your request if you require the information in a particular format (e.g. a photocopy, transcript, computer disk; or if you want to examine it).

For a detailed description on how to make a Freedom of Information request to a Public Body visit the Office of the information Commissioner website.
